2 Days Post-op w/ Cathedar @ Home

Well, I am almost 2 days post-op...finally came home last night(well sedated) still in much pain. Most of the surgery went well, and better than expected, and for that, I am grateful. Due to some minor complications...Long story, but I ended up having to wear a cath/bag til Tuesday at home. Has any one else gone home from the hospital with one of these?? Other than the discomfort from this contraption, the meds seem to be keeping most of the pain under control Anyone have ideas as to how not to let this thing drive me nuts til Tuesday??? It's very uncomfortable and i feel like I have to pee soooooo bad all the time. It's driving me crazy!! HELP!

Ronnic, I'm so sorry you had to come home with a catheter. I know what you mean about having the feeling to pee all the time (it hurts) with the pressure that device brings on. Post op I demanded the nurse take it out she did, big no-no, surgeon told her not too but she did anyway & I was re-catheterized hours later in my hospital bed, that was in for 11 hours. I hope other ladies chime in to share their experiences & I pray yours comes out on Tuesday. Hang in there, we're all with you!

Re: 2 Days Post-op w/ Cathedar @ Home

I had to come home with a catheter, and i had it for 4 days (that first time i was able to pee without the catheter was a joyous occasion!)

Anyway. I think it helps to try and relax. Also, because i had a lot of irritation and discomfort, doctor told me i could take OTC drug called AZO (gives you orange pee.) You might call your doctor and see if this is an option for you.

Look at the bright side - those first few days it can be hard to get up and down, and you can pee without getting up!
