How much lifting are you going to be doing? What is the weight of the items? My Doc said nothing over 10 pounds the first 6 weeks but I only had a TVH no outter anything? If you are concerned I would ask your Doc about a weight limit for you depending on the type of surgery you had. Sorry can't be much help. Take care

HELLO,.. i will totally depend on the surgery you have had and how well you are healing. Some heal quicker that others. It you have had the ok it should be fine, but would also be advisable to find out on weight restrictions...just in case you felt like manually pullling the nighbours car up the hill..lol....if you feel ill at ease with anything you need to be asking your Dr those questions as we are all different

one more question

I had my TAH one week before you and my dr. won't let me return to work for another 3 weeks. He said that he does not want me to have any stress until I am 8 weeks post-op and I do have a stressful job. But he okayed me to drive 8 hours this weekend to take by DD to her hockey tournament. I just have to stop every 1 1/2 hours and walk around the car twice before proceeding. Go figure.

The only advice I can give you is if you have to lift at work, let someone else do it. I find that lifting even a lightweight bag of groceries is uncomfortable. As my dr. advised me "by taking 1 step forward, I could potentially take 3 steps backwards".
