Still passing gas
try keeping carbs out of your diet for a bit. It can reduce gas because carbs tend to 'ferment' in your bowels and if your bowels are a bit sluggish the carbs will have more time in there to brew up a storm! :-)

Still passing gas
OMG!! My gas pains were so bad that it made me cry at times. It was the worse feeling in the world. I took Gas-X but it didn't seem to help me. I just had to let it run it's course. It lasted for about 2 weeks (with the terrible pain) and then for two more weeks but the pain was bearable. One thing I did learn was to walk as much as you can. The more I sat/laid around the gas would just stay there and not move. Walking actually made it easier to deal with. I have to admit, it is the most embarrassing thing that I have ever dealt with in my life.

I actually haven't had any carbonated drinks as well as typical gas-producing foods, intentionally.... to avoid the gas problem.

That's interesting. I didn't think of carbs to avoid. I am not a carb fan, but the carbs that I do eat are.... a slice of whole wheat toast with breakfast, some (form of) noodles with my lunch soup (I love Progresso,) and either a small potatoe, a small yam or a small scoop of rice with dinner. Otherwise, I eat eggs, fish, chicken, cooked (non-gassy) veggies and lots of fresh fruit.

Gas help!
Hi all. I have found that mint tea is very helpful as well as the recipe for Sassy Water from the Flat Belly Diet (not that I am expecting a flat belly any time soon, I am 4 1/2 weeks out TAH.)
Sassy Water is supposed to calm and soothe the intestinal track and help with bloating and gas and I think it has helped me.
2qts water
1 cucumber peeled and sliced
1 lemon sliced
1 tsp freshly grated ginger root
12 leaves fresh mint
combine all ingredients at night, put in fridge and drink 4 glasses the next day. Cheers!

Still passing gas
I am post op day 4, and at home now. I am amazed that once I am out of bed and straight, I can walk pretty straight. My Friend R.N., will get every 2nd staple out for me on Tues. and the rest on Wed. It is still oozing very minimally from my incision. Is it Ok to dry on very low heat with hairdryer, not too close?? I never had such a big belly protruding. It seems like I ave an overhanging pannus. I am wanting to order the swelly belly band. I am just at the borderline, 44 inches. I know my belly will go down, what size should I order? I don't want it to be too big for me in 1-2 weeks.
Hanging in there, sestra

Still passing gas
Hi,
I just came back from my 3 week checkup.
I can tell you erveryday is a little better.
I use a 6 inch wide ace bandage, available at the pharmacy, as my belly band. I can adjust it to the firmness I feel good with. This also gives me the little bit of support I feel good with.
Get a lot of rest, read a book, and focus on your well being for the next few weeks.
Sending Love SandC
