Re: Doing dishes and belly still score

Yes, I do too. My TAH was July 20, 2009 and I still feel twinges when I rub against the bathroom counter. (I must point out, though, that I had another abdominal surgery last December for colon cancer and some of the same area was cut again.) I really think it's normal to still feel an occasional twinge here or there. It will get better, but time is probably the only thing that will help!

Re: Doing dishes and belly still score

Hi sisters, I am almost 1 year out and still have swelly belly. Tummy is still numb and hurts when rubbed or poked. Not in pain killer kind of pain but still alot of pain. Reaching and lifting is extremely difficult still. Lots of bowel and gas issues. Surgeon was an insensitive jerk and GP just plain stupid. No ovaries or HRT and no advice from either Dr. in regards to healing or supplements. I have had to self Dr. via internet and this site. I feel that I gave uninformed consent and was not prepared at all for the life changes virtually overnight. I am learning to live as the new me but I am very different now. Some changes are positive and some not so much. The hot flashes are plentiful and they nauseate me. Clonindine helps as they are even worse without it. Sleeping is a huge issue still and am taking clonazapam for sleep and still only getting 4-6 hours nightly. Mood swings have tapered off and my sense of humour has returned but come 6:00pm and I am exhausted. I do feel that I heal a little more each day but this is taking way longer than I expected. I would really like to wear my before surgery clothes again and would really enjoy just getting back to my life without the pain and fatigue. Limolady I am glad I am not alone but sorry you are also experiencing this. Hopefully soon we will be ourselves again.
