Re: surgery coming up

Hi, Debbie! I had a robotic hysterectomy a year ago this month. If I had to do it again, I would. I had 5 tiny incisions, minimal pain, and a quick recovery. I, too, had read the horror stories before my surgery (big mistake). But for me the robotic procedure worked out very well. A year later and I've had no further problems. I hope your experience will be just as good as mine! Prayers and blessings!

Re: surgery coming up

Hi debbiekes, I am 9 days post op and have had a wonderful experience. I had DaVinci surgery removing uterus, cervix, tubes & right ovary due to severe endometriosis. I was of course nervous to have this done as I am only 35 and really scared of surgery and anesthesia. But I have to say that all the nerves that I had prior were far worse than how I feel now. Even last week was ok. And yes I read all the horror stories too, because I had never heard of the DaVinci robot before, naturally the first thing I did was google it. I trusted my amazing surgeon, and she made me feel so comfortable at my pre op, even though the morning of I was freaking out, I knew she understood my major concerns and listened well. I also knew that she was very experienced in robotic surgery, she has done thousands of them. It helps to communicate your main concerns to your doc so they can make you feel at ease. My surgery was scheduled for 7:30am done in 2 hours was in recovery by noon that day. They gave me something to relax me right before surgery so I would calm down and honestly I don't remember anything after that. Went home the next day. Pain has been manageable, and really what a difference a week makes in recovery. All my swelling is gone, and now I just need to take the time to heal internally. If you go into the recovery posts you will see tons of positive success stories from amazingly strong women just like yourself. Good luck
