Testing the strength of Faith
Hello everyone...Glad they have a website like this one. I certainly need it right now. I was told today I have a complex mass and have to have surgery, "Hysterectomy." I'v had my pap, sono, and a biopsy. I was told the biopsy was normal and I am assuming that would mean that it is not cancer. I don't know? The nurse is the one who told this to me this evening. Is it just me or does anyone else out there believe that when your told you are going to need surgery the Doctor would be the one to explain why and not that you have a complex mass and surgery is in order from the nurse. Oh...ok nurse set up my surgery date and thanks for calling!
The reason for my testing and concern is due to bleeding to much, 35 days stright, 16 days no bleeding, and I started bleeding again 3 days ago, heavy and with much cramping. Any suggestions, feed back, support will be greatly appreciated.
Also I did have the nurse set up a meeting with the doctor for this Friday. I mean come on, it seems anyone would want to know more than what I was told today before I just agree with the surgery. I don't know. Feeling very distressed. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Faith

Hi Faith,
I'm glad you found us here at Hystersisters. I can understand why you are so frustrated ...
You need answers and I'm glad you have another appointment with your gyn. It sounds as though there may be additional concerns, even though the biopsy was normal. Perhaps the ultrasound showed the mass in an area where they could not obtain a biopsy?
I highly encourage you to get a second opinion before you agree to surgery. If there are any concerns at all about cancer, I recommend that you get that second opinion from a gyn oncologist. They are highly trained surgeons and the best out there to deal with "masses" that may or may not be cancerous.
Please hang in there and let us know what you find out. I'm sure this is frightening. I also recommend you check out our cancer concerns forum here ... the ladies there can share their experiences and help provide additional support. Sending positive energy and hugs your way.
Beth

Beth, thank you for your reply. A gyn oncologist is a good idea. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Sometimes you get so wrapt in your own anxities and so on you don't even think about these things.
I'll keep you posted.
Thank you so much.
Faith
