PLEASE NEED ANSWER surgery tomorrow!
Hello Ladies,
Has anyone had this happen? I got my period yesterday. Will this interfere with my surgery? I had a d and c about a month ago and the cone biopsy which showed stage 1a2 cancer.
I am concerned since I've been bleeding so much, more than usual, will that be a concern? Since they talk about tranfusions are always possible with this radical hyster. etc? They won't reschedule me I hope?
Any comments please would ease my mind. Thank you.
Kathleen

Hi Kathleen!
Take a deep breath and relax. Doctors are used to doing this surgery while women are bleeding. Many women have this surgery to stop never-ending bleeding. My doctor told me it didn't matter if I was or not. While I obviously cannot speak for your doctor, from what I've read on here, most doctors say the same thing.
Hang in there!

ditto to what Marianne said. The doctor and staff are use to it. I'm sure I'll be doing the same... because it's all I do! This will not be the reason for a transfusion. Best of luck and let us know how it all goes.

I have not had my TAH yet but I asked my doctor about being on my period during the surgery (since I never know when it will happen) and she said no problem. That it would not interfere.
I hope for the best for you during this trying time.

THANK YOU !!!
Ladies,
You are a wonderful group of people. Thank you for your super quick responses!
I don't know much about why they do the hysterectomy thing except for pain or cancer. So I had no idea. I was freaking out. Every hour I am changing a pad. I have never had this happen. And my brother and I are staying at a hotel tonight which is on the grounds of the my hospital complex since I live 2 hours from the place. So I was worried about the scheduling for him being booked here for the week.
I had to leave my German Shep puppy which was hard since we've been together since he was 5 weeks. He'll be 6 mos. on Wed. He's crazy and used to sleeping in my bed (he does have his own couch though in the garage) he won't be able to do that for a LONG time. ha.
Thanks again, now I can get my bath and relax, well sorta! Tomorrow is the BIG day.

me too
Hi,
My period started a day before surgery and I was really bleeding and it was no big deal to them at all. You will be fine! They're used to dealing with it.
God bless you! You'll be in my prayers.

Good Luck Tomorrow!!!
I know how you feel about your puppy. I have 2, both a little older than yours. Both sleep in our bed. I am renting a hospital bed side table, the kind that moves and adjusts, I am hoping that Iwill be able to postion it over my belly to keep my dogs off me. haha Anyway I just wanted to wish you the best. I understand the waiting is the hardest part, yea right.
Please post back and let everyone know how you are.
