Tightness in abdomen

My LAVH/BSO was 4 weeks ago. Everything has been going well with recovery. I actually feel better than I have in years. I have a very supportive husband who is taking care of everything around here so I can take it easy and recover properly. Yesterday I started having this feeling of tightness in my navel and abdominal incision areas. It's not really painful, just uncomfortable. I don't have a fever and I am not bleeding. Is this a sign of my incisions healing and, if so, about how long does it take to go away?

Re: Tightness in abdomen

I felt incision tightness around Week 6. I think the scar tissue tightens, then loosens. Unfortunately, I loosened mine by crouching down, which took a few days for the pain to stop.

Re: Tightness in abdomen

Hey there ladies! I love this site and all of your help. I had a SAH and I'm just approaching week 6. My scar feels really really tight and hard like someone pulled a drawstring. My belly hangs over it because of the tightness. I've been putting vitamin E on it regularly and it's looking good. I too am wondering when it will loosen up a bit. I'm also still having numbness above the incision and a burning sensation inside vertically from my navel down to the incision. It feels like it could be the vertical stitches inside that are healing? The burning happens mostlly in the evenings. My follow-up appointment is next week. I will bring this up with my MD, but from what I've been reading, it just sounds like part of the process.

I had the same symptoms, which I talked over with my doctor at my 6 week checkup yesterday. All normal and expected.

Re: Tightness in abdomen

I'll be 4 weeks tomorrow and just feeling this today since I mopped for the first time today-I'm figuring mine is expected since I did something I probably should not have.
