5+ weeks post hysterectomy - how long for the stitches to go away?

I'm feeling good. I went to the DR yesterday for the 6 week exam was a little early. Very disappointed that i still have stitches. I thought this would be my last post op exam, now i have to go back in 2 weeks. I still have a little burning in my stomach when i eat but not like it was...Pathology report came back negative...How long for the stitches to go away?

Re: Hysterectomy 6/6/2016

Hi there! Glad to hear that you are feeling good. My doc had indicated for the materials he used that it would take about 8 weeks for stitches to dissolve. I think that there was one lone stitch at 10 weeks that was not attached to anything that was just hanging out, but nothing left after that.

Re: Hysterectomy 6/6/2016

I'm almost 5 weeks post op and last night I noticed my belly button incision was a little red and warm to touch and when I applied pressure to it I could feel a hard area behind it. I read on forums it could be infection so I immediately called my Doc and she ca
led me back told me to apply a cold compress and that my incision might pop open because of built up fluid behind it. And if so go to the walk in clinic today. Anyone else experiencing this???

Re: 5+ weeks post hysterectomy - how long for the stitches to go away?

I'm 8 weeks out and have never seen a single stitch. I have no idea if they are still there or not. At the end of the day I do have a hard lump under my belly button, but I think it's just the end,of the day swelling. It's gone in the morning.
