Tummy skin is very sensitive

The last few days, the skin on my tummy below my belly button has been VERY sensitive. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am wondering if it is from wearing the frozen swelly belly band. I have been wearing it over my sweats (not directily next to my skin), but I wonder if it got too cold and now the nerves on my stomach are starting to wake up.....

I have that too, but I haven't used any ice. I had a LSH on Dec. 15th. Between my 4 incisions... it is very sensitive. Actually, almost to a point where it burns/stings at the slightest touch-much like a sunburn feeling. I'm hoping that it is just a nerve thing.. that will go back to normal soon. I'm interested to hear what others say.

Yea! That is a great way to describe it - it is like a VERY sensitive sunburn.

I had that! How a numb tummy can be sore I just don't know!

I had to be really careful with what fabric I let rub against my tummy. Soft cotton felt great but a towel out of the shower was awful.

It does get better over time & I think it is something to do with the nerve endings knitting back together.

Williwaw

Mine was extremely sensitive, too and for many months. It still continues to feel "odd" at nearly 4 years post-op.

If you try a Google Search of HysterSisters (towards the top right of every page) you'll find hundreds of similar experiences to read through.

Many nerves are cut/damaged during surgery, resulting in different sensations from numbness to the common "sunburn" description. It's still very early days and, hopefully, you'll find everything will gradually improve as your recovery progresses.

Sending all good wishes!

Mine, too! It is getting better, and thankfully clothing does not bother it, but, man! I agree--it is so wierd to have numb skin that hurts to touch it!

I just hope it goes away as I continue to recover, and at least I know I'm not alone!

Mine just started today...4 days post-op. It is literally excruciating to have anything rub even a little bit on it. Even my pj's are torture devices! I hope it goes away soon.

Tummy skin is very sensitive

I'm just over 4 wks post-op and had the strange hypersensitive/burning skin to my right lower quadrant. A triangular area from my hip lap site over to pubic bone and up to belly button (a perfecr triangle area). It has shrunk/improved. Now it's only near the Lap site. The MD explained that this area was the most painful d/t the large probe placed in that spot and the movement of it under the skin. The nerve endings apparently take a beating then need time to heal. I'll be glad when I can wear my jeans again. Getting tired of the sweatpant look LOL.

Thank you so much for your replies. I was worried that I had frost bite on my tummy from wearing the frozen swelly belly band.

The sensation is starting to die down a tiny bit now thankfully.
