Sensitive teeth and gums

I did a search on this and found that getting sensitive teeth and gums can be hormonal. I've noticed over past couple of days that my gums are bleeding when I brush teeth and very sore on the left upper side! I'm on climara patch and I'm hoping this balances out! 'Cause it hurts!!!

A visit to your dentist wouldn't hurt, if you're due. My dental team has been very helpful.....turns out they know a lot about hormonal effects on your dental health, and what to do about it. And, all this time, I just thought they knew only about teeth!

Take care.............s....Deb

Sensitive teeth and gums

I had some easy bleeding in the first weeks, it has got much better now. I think hormones do crazy things...I just found out that the spots I have been having in my vision are hormonal too! The eye doctor said that the type of symptoms I was having (seeing circles in one eye) are typical of menopause..I kept my ovaries but he said it is that rollercoaster that we go on after a hysterectomy that can do it.

It was important that I had a full eye exam because my symptoms also could have been a detached retina, so as fibroid woman pointed out, you might want to go to the dentist to make sure and get some advice.

Sensitive teeth and gums

I have had sensitive teeth for a long time now. My dentist attributes it to my chronic allergies/sinusitis. I would check with your dentist to rule out anything. The sensitive teeth toothpastes work well if nothing is going on. I read recently that Arm and Hammer Enamel Repair is excellent. Just bought some and going to try it. Also, avoid very hot and cold things on the teeth that hurt. I drink with a straw and brush my teeth with warm water. Extreme temperatures send me through the roof. Hope you get to the bottom of your problems.

Sensitive teeth and gums

As a dental hygienist, I know that hormonal changes influence gum condition. When women are preganant, they can get an abnormal growth of tissue referred to as a pregnancy tumor. Although it is not cancerous, it is a painful result of the hormonal changes a woman goes through. The same is true for anyone whose hormones are changing due to hormonal replacement and/or hysterectomy. Be patient, as your hoemones balance, your gums should improve. Be sure to brush and floss well. It's easy to slack . I even haven't been as dilligent(day 8 after surgery). You can also try warm salt water rinses. 4 tbsp salt to 2-3 oz warm water. Rinse for 30 sec to 1 min. It really works. Good Luck.
