Pms

3 weeks post op and it just dawned me how strange it will be to have PMS symptoms without bleeding. I always had "great" periods as far as an emotional standpoint. Most of my agony the last few years have been caused my excruciating pain. I didn't even start my period until I was 16 years old. Never did I imagine that I would cease having a period at 38. I don't have children and have never been pregnant. I found out after some tests that my very tiny uterus would've never held a baby to term anyway. The doc almost talked about it as a concern for my life if I ever did get pregnant. I told him, "my husband had a vasectomy", and he said, "Well, I'd stick with him them." Lol.

I'm so very glad that I got rid of my uterus. All of the pain that it's caused me, and also the inability to ever check things out diagnostically in the future, plus not having children. Why keep it? My life makes more sense without it. In fact, I feel liberated and justified with it being gone. I never got 4-6 weeks off of work from having a baby. Instead I removed my uterus but it has still been MY time. I knew I was never going to have children so I feel a lot better not having to deal with the monthly bleeding and pain- for no dang reason at all. I feel awesome about my decision. It will be strange to possibly still have PMS symptoms since I kept my ovaries. I'm hoping my great healing continues and smooth transition continues.

Re: Pms

I've been wondering and thinking the same thing. What's it going to be like? So far I'm just having the emotional effects (crying/happy) but no puffiness, moodiness, or anything else.

Re: Pms

So I'm in the week of my "period" now minus the bleeding. It's weird because I keep thinking its late and then I remember it's never coming again! I have a little bit of pain in my ovaries and a small headache that's it. Awesome becaise before I would have been to the ER already for hemorraging and migraine. I'm with you! I'm liberated and free and feel good for the first time in a long time. Glad you are healing well! Good luck sisters with continued healing.
