No internal exam after surgery...8 wks now

Hi, I had my 6 wk at seven weeks. I thought I would have an internal. But dr said if I am not bleeding, have no pain, and no discharge no need. He cleared me for all activities. I mentioned adhesions and he didn't seem concerned. I feel perfect..just like my old self. Should I worry about no internal?

no don't worry. my 4 week exam was a check of vagina, because i started bleeding a little post op3 weeks. she poked around the cuff area and did hae blood on swab. that evening i started to really bleed, soaked 2 pads and passed 3 clots size of pin-pong balls. i called her clinic and got person on call. she suggested ER if bleeding continued. i went to bed and there was no new bleeding. however, this clinic never bothered to call me to check on me. so i decided never to see her again. my primary said the bleeding came from the vaginal cuff. he also explained my bruising on right side from ribs to vulvae to inside rt. thigh 2 days post op....came from the stab wound made for the lap. again no explanation from the gyn surgeon.

The lack of a post-op internal exam bothered me... it just seemed like a given that someone would need to take a peek under the hood but that did not happen until my recent appointment with a new primary care provider- She, too, thought it a little wrong that there was no post-op pelvic, so she scheduled one and everything was just perfect in there..... there was no cause for worry but I sure feel better *knowing* that rather than hoping that "no news is good news".

I have to agree not that we like having the peak under the hood but I would not have been comfortable without it glad you got it done

I would call it negligence, but that's just me.

@Patsy613--"stab wound for the lap". Never heard it put quite that way before! Though of course that is really what it is. And to our bodies makes no difference if it came from a knife attack or a scalpel. Thanks for the chuckle!

I can't tell from your profile if you kept your cervix. If you did, there is nothing for the doctor to look at since your vagina looks exactly the same inside. I kept my cervix and my doctor never checked either. Like you I felt just fine aside from a few twinges that he reassured me were normal.

On the other hand, if you didn't keep your cervix, you might feel better if you call back and ask to be checked.
