TLH 6 days post hysterectomy cramping

Im on day 6 post op. I felt great yesterday. Now having tons of cramping. Feel like pms cramps. Hoping nothings wrong

Hi, lacey77. Welcome to Hystersisters! You're still pretty early in your recovery, so cramping at this stage is pretty normal. Overdoing things on days when you're feeling good can cause cramping too. If you have any new or worsening pain, don't hesitate to call your doctor. You might want to check out your recovery report thread. There you'll meet sisters who had surgery the same week as you did. You can compare notes, swap tips and advice, and cheer each other on. I don't know what I would have done without my recovery report thread!

The cramping could be coming from your digestive tract; the rectum is in the same general area as where your uterus used to be, and if you're still constipated, that could be a contributing factor. Regular exercise is highly recommended to get your bowels working properly, so make sure you're taking regular walks. Also try supplementing your diet with magnesium, which also supports proper bowel function; food sources include leafy greens, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and dark chocolate. Thank you! I am really thinking thats what it is. Didnt realize how much GI issues are involved in all of this!
