Chest X-ray before hospital admission?
Hmmm. My mother says that one of the things the hospital will do is to insist on a chest xray since I will be staying overnight at the hospital. Has anyone had to do this? My gyn. mentioned nothing about that. I'm not afraid or anything. I'm just wondering.

Chest X-ray before hospital admission?
The only thing my doctor ordered was an EKG and bloodwork. I didn't need any bowel prep either.

Chest X-ray before hospital admission?
You know, I thought the same thing about the chest X-ray. But to my surprise, they didn't do one. At my pre-op visit with my doctor, he listened to my chest very well, and said I wouldn't need one. I'd also had a checkup with my internist about a month before that, and she said she didn't think I'd need one, either.
I don't smoke, and have a history of general good health, so maybe this was one reason for their decision.
They also didn't do bloodwork, at least while I was awake! But after I'd gotten home, I had a very suspicious bruisy-looking place on my left arm, inside the elbow. So I'm thinking they might have done something concerning bloodwork while I was asleep.
(My husband says they cloned me! )

Chest X-ray before hospital admission?
My hospital requires an EKG for anyone over 40 having surgery. No chest X-ray. When your hospital calls you to set up the pre op appt you can ask them.

cloned?
Lizal,
That made me laugh. My husband would say something like that, but he would be VERY afraid if someone really did clone me! He says one of me is all he can keep up with.

Chest X-ray before hospital admission?
I was told at the hospital for pre-op that I would need a chest x-ray but I had had one a couple months earlier so they said since it was within the last 3 months I did not need another one.
I also had blood work and an EKG.
Best wishes to you!

Chest X-ray before hospital admission?
Different DR's and hospitals have different policies. I was 46 when I had my surgery and didn't have a chest x-ray or EKG.
They took blood and that was all.

Chest X-ray before hospital admission?
I was told by the gyn doctor that I had to have a medical clearance and a chest x-ray because I have a history of Asthma, even though it has not flared up in months they still need a x-ray done. At this point I will do what it is that they need in order to have the surgery done because I am tired of being in pain. DO you or have you had any breathing problems? That could be one reason why. I wish the best for you.
