scared

I am scared to have a hysterectomy I am scheduled for september 11. I am 35 years old. I have had problems ever since I was a teenager. Two years ago a a cyst removal, in february 06 i had two cyst rupture and a tumor had to be removed, and now the doctor says he should have done a hysterectomy he has to go back in.

I feel like i am having my period every day terrible cramps but no bleeding he says this is part of my endrometriosis and that it is getting worse

has anyone ever had this problem. I have to have a total hysterectomy and i am scared about going on the estrogen and the bone bill that helps you not get osteoporosis any comments would help

thank you for listening to me

Welch,
I had the same problems with severe endo and ruptured cysts and wished I had it all taken out when my right ovary was removed. Well, now that I HAVE had it all taken out I feel really great. I can't start HRT for 6 months because of the possibility of recurring endo, and am hoping I won't have to take any synthetic hormones at all. I have been taking evening primsore and black cohosh, along with a multi and other nutritional supplements and aside from an occasional flushed feeling I haven't had any menopausal symptoms. My mood is up - very positive and very balanced, perhaps because I wanted this surgery so badly! I wish you all the best - everyone's body is different. I feel fortunate to have escaped severe surgical menopause, swelly belly, and fatigue. Hope it's the same for you and all our other sisters.

thank you for writing back to me. You said you had it all taken out now but he didn't go into surgical menopause isn't that what I would be doing I had my left ovary removed in february and now i will be going in for a total hysterectomy so is that surgical menopause my dr said he is going to put me on a bone pill once a week and some estrogren pill he didn't tell me the name of it. I am a little scared because I had no idea until i came here that endrometriosis could spread to other parts of your body I called my dr and asked the nurse to get back to me because i want to know what stage mine is they never told me that and I had no idea until I came to this site that there were stages of endo wow i have learned so much already

Welch - I'm sorry if my post wasn't clear. I had one ovary taken out in Jan 06, then my other ovary, uterus and cervix (TAH) taken out 3 weeks ago. Yes, I am in menopause, just not as intense as I thought it would be (for now, knock wood). My mom never had menopausal symptoms after her hysterectomy (at age 43. I'm 43 also) so perhaps it is genetic? Perhaps it is the evening primrose oil and black cohosh I am taking? I don't know the answer but am pleased so far with how my body has responded to surgical menopause. And yes, ask you dr about recurring endo in relation to estrogen. As for the bones - I'll be having a bone density test and we'll take it from there. I have been taking calcium supplements for a decade and am physically active so perhaps I won't need a special pill for that. I'll let you know and you keep me posted as well. Good Luck!

I am so glad that all is going well for you what do you do with the primrose oil and where can you get it. i know my mom went through early menopause but it was natural and she said it wasn't bad at all so I hope this induced menopause isn't bad. I hope all goes well for you at your test. I know when I was younger I would be like oh I have endrometriosis and thought it was no big deal until now and all the problems it is causing me. I surely hope my 15 year old daughter does not have to go through what I am going through. I really should start taking a calcium supplement since I will not drink milk. I will keep you posted I have 4 weeks before my surgery. I am kind of glad about that and kind of wishing it would just be over with so the anticpation and feelings of being scared were over with.
