Prolapse - Cervix only
I have been reading threads from this site for about a month now, but I have never posted. I am having a vaginal partial hysterectomy (I don't know the abbreviations) on June 16th. I have a pre-op with the doctor tomorrow. I have a lot of questions for him.
He has only ever said that I have a "prolapsed cervix", but I have not seen that term used anywhere. Is that the same as a prolapsed uterus? He is leaving my uterus and ovaries and just taking the cervix. I am really confused.
I am also a little worried about other "parts" falling after the surgery. He never mentioned repairs, although I will be asking him that tomorrow.
I have been uncomfortable with this for a long time. I thought something was wrong with my mind until I found out there was actually a word for what I was feeling down there. I am both excited and really nervous about the surgery. I am 42 and done having kids, so I didn't feel like I wanted to try to just repair it with surgery.
I also get pain in my abdomen under my ribs from time to time that my internist keeps telling me is from exercise...I don't buy that, but is there anyone else with a prolapse that gets pain like this? Sometimes it is severe and other times really minor.
Thanks everyone for all the help.

Prolapse - Cervix only
I am having trouble with prolapse also. I can describe my pain as being the worst menstral cramp you can imagine. I would even rate my pain as a good 7 on the pain scale. Of course everyone has different tolerance to pain. I also have very sharp pains running up inside of me. I hope you can get some relief soon. Dont let people make you feel like you shouldnt be in pain. When body parts start falling out it is very painful!!!

Prolapse - Cervix only
i had uterine, bladder, and rectal prolapse and was asymptomatic.................i would think that once your dr removes your cercix he/she will do some sort of tightening of the vaginal fascia...ask what he/she plans to do in order to help prevent prolapse in the future.

Prolapse - Cervix only
Hi!!
I also suffer from prolapse . I have to agree with your internist for one second here, (let me explain) . I have had to stop doing most if not all high impact classes . I was experiencing some pain following activities of that nature. With this prolapse i found not only do you have the anoying ache most of the time, but if i would run, kickbox,or do step (i'm a Fitness instructor) My entire insides up to right under my ribs would ache or feel like i was punched in the stomach. My team of Dr.s has told me to take it easy and not over do the high impact for now. They say that with this prolapse everthing is hanging far out of place for me, that my intestines as well as bladder, colon, uterus and vagina are all at risk for falling lower if not out(yuk) .
So exercise does play a role in increasing your discomfort if you have prolapse issues. I suffer a great deal the following day or 8 to 12 hours later. Its no fun, painful and frightening when the bulge grows huge and aches and you can barely sit .
I wish you luck and will keep you in my prayers. remember to ask alot of questions,,,after all its your body. who knows it better? not them! Take care
