24 Hours post hysterectomy (Nov 11th)

I am a little less than 24 hours after my TLH surgery, and I feel great, considering. My worst pain at the moment is in my chest and shoulders from gases. I was sent home with a catheter and instructions to take it out this morning, but I couldn't handle it anymore and took it out last night. I have been urinating fine and a good amount. The pain meds the dr. gave me aren't doing much. I find that Ibuprofen does the most. I am using my binder from this site 24/7 and using a heating pad on my stomach through the night and any time I am in my bed. The heat feels good. I am also able to sleep on my side with a pillow between my legs. My throat is still a little hoarse from the tube. I was able to help get my kids dressed for school this morning, shower without any help, and I am surprised how well I feel. Hopefully this remains.

Glad to hear you are doing so well! Keep drinking plenty of water and take it gradual.

Thank you! I have my water cup next to me now. I am hoping it will help with all the fluid retention.

Re: 24 Hours post hysterectomy

It is wonderful that you are doing this well! It can't complain too much either for my first two weeks. I didn't need my prescription pain pills, just an Alleve twice a day and my heating pad. After the first week my cramps went away and now I have more energy. Hope your recovery stays easy.
