Is this pain normal?

I'm 3 weeks post-op (almost), last night I started getting this come and go shooting pain, left side, below my pelvic area. It is still there today. Is this a sign of healing or should I call my doctor about it? I don't want to take any pain meds, because I am having a really hard time sleeping, so I am hoping this is a sign of the healing process. Also, I have no signs of blood.

Any knowledge of this would be great!

Thanks,
Kendra

Is this pain normal?

Ahhh yes...you may have this on-off pain for the next 10 weeks. No worries, take an OTC and a heating pad. Don't overdo it!

Is this pain normal?

I'm sorry this pain has suddenly started. I'm afraid none of us can tell you exactly what it is, or whether it's ok or not ... The best possible thing you can do is have a word with your doctor, if only to put your mind at rest. This is major surgery and you're still very early on in your recovery.

Will you let us know what is said? Wishing you all the best for a smooth recovery!

Is this pain normal?

About four weeks out I got that stabbing pain on my lower left side. Every step I took, it felt like I was being jabbed with an ice pick. A week later it was just an ache and pain every now and then.

At my 6-wk check up, my dr says that its common to have pain on one side or the other after surgery. He said it was most likely adhesions and they tend to clear up on their own and mine did.

Hang in there. If you are worried or it gets worse and not better, then give your dr a call for your peace of mind.

Is this pain normal?

Thanks to you all for the comforting words, I knew in my heart it was normal, but as Jovigal said "feels like an ice pick" you can't help but think one OUCH and two is this supposed feel like that after a week of no pain. If it gets worse I will give my doctor a call, but right now it's no t any worse, but not any better either.

Thanks again for all the wisdom! I love being able to go to this site and be able to ask a question and get answers. Alot easier than bugging my doctor all the time.

Yours Truly,
Kendra
