TAH- Do you need a binder?

I love my binder. It has helped a lot. I think the only thing I hate is having to take it off, because your tummy feels uncomfortable when it is off. I always want to put it back on. lol. i don't wear it constantly because I want to allow my tummy to breathe. plus I still have my staples in. So I don't want to irritate them. But it helps when you are walking and you feel secure and protected in it.

I had my TAH on June 30, 2010 and had not found this site until after home from surgery and wondered also about the binder. I am a side sleeper and still can't sleep on my side and have a tough time getting comfortable so maybe this would help

I wore my binder for six weeks with very few breaks. However, I am quite a bit overweight and felt that I needed to give myself time to heal before my muscles were going to have to support my already big belly. My doctor said at 6 weeks to stop wearing it. I have except for when I take karate classes.
