5 weeks post op

Hi everyone. I am 5 weeks out and just now noticed light bleeding. I only had a little right after surg and then stopped. Now all of the sudden, here we go. I did not over exert as I floated in the pool (sorry) and I did take my 1st bath tonight. Any body else experience this?

Re: 5 weeks post op

My sutures have just started dissolving - my surgery was 4 days before yours - so that could perhaps be why you are noticing some spotting now (yours might be too?). I only spotted for 1/2 day or so as each suture 'came out'. If you are soaking a pad, or bleeding bright red, I would contact your dr. Or even just for reassurance

Re: 5 weeks post op

I had the same issue but mine was infection and bright red.

Always best to call the doc just in case.

If you overdo it you can cause spotting too.

If you have a fever, get to the doc ASAP..

Re: 5 weeks post op

Most likely just spotting from the stitches dissolving if it just light spotting or discharge. My post op instructions said I could expect spotting and discharge for 6 weeks or so. And when the stitches dissolve around week 4 or 5. Even mentioned at that time, the discharge could change color. As long as your not going through a pad an hour or anything, you are probably good to go, but....that being said, you could always call and check with your Drs office and get some peace of mind that way also. Good Luck!! (I'm 2 weeks behind you and haven't had anything since day 1 either!)

Re: 5 weeks post op

My surgery was almost a week after yours and I am experiencing the same thing. Doc said no need for concern unless soaking a pad per hour; probably just stitches dissolving as others have said. If you continue being worried, give your doc a call. Hope you get to feeling better!
