A cold before surgery

I'm scheduled for next Wednesday. I, too, am a teacher and a horrible flu has been going through the school. I started feeling a bit achy and really tired, so I immediately called the doctor. They put me on Allegra-D and, boy, did that take care of it!

I have a bigger problem now, though. I had an ovarian cyst rupture over the weekend. Lots of pain and discharge. I called the doctor Friday afternoon and spoke with the nurse practitioner. She told me to rest, remain quiet and call them immediately if I start to run a fever.

I stayed home from work Monday but had to go in today. My students are performing a Christmas play Wednesday night and we had to practice! Well, I now feel awful and am running a fever. But there's no way on God's green earth that I can miss tomorrow! None of the other teachers is familiar with the play and the kids would be devastated if I wasn't there! We've been working on this for a month!

Please, keep me in your prayers, everyone! I just have to hang on for a few more days!

Oh, Julie-Anne! I'm so sorry your cyst ruptured! Can you at least stay home the rest of the week after the play is over and take care of yourself?

Eleven years ago when I was scheduled for biopsy, came down with a cold. Doctor said as long as temperature was normal / near normal, surgery was still a go.

Well, thankfully, my cold is no worse today and maybe even a little bit better. Maybe if there's any bacterial infection involved, the mega-doses of antibiotics I have to take to sterilize my bowel later today will knock it on it's butt!

Less than 24 hours to go! Hooray!
