Awake during TVH??

I too had a spinal for my surgery. I didn't want the general because I don't wake up easily either. The anesthesiologist was going to give me an epidural for the procedure, but it went into the wrong space. No biggie, just an adjustment of medications for him. No difference to me except positioning after the procedure. I had to lie flat which I didn't mind at all. I asked for meds to knock me out. I didn't want to know what was going on at all. It worked great. I would do it that way again.
I hope that your surgery goes well.

You can have a spinal but also get a medication to sedate you so you are more like in a sleep mode then under full general anesthesia. Valium used to be used, now they use versed which is quickly reversable and you have no memory of the procedure. So having a medication like versed is not the same as having general anesthesia so would not be as much to worry about as far as waking up. I also think they wouldn't want you talking to them the whole time because it could distract them.
