Post-Op members only: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

I'm scheduled for surgery Tues and will make sure I am taking bio identical hormones NOT from horses.

I have not had my surgery yet but I have been on BHRT for 4 years now. I pay by the year which is cheaper than per pelleting and each month I set aside cash ($300) and pay using cash. I am able to negotiate a better price paying with cash. (My insurance does not cover anything.) It's an expensive burden but we know it's worth it.

I just started Wednesday it's a low doseason estradiol patch can't remember the mg per day.

I'm a bit over 6 months out from my surgery - LAVH with ovaries left in - and this past Wednesday I just started Kariva, a low dose estrogen & progesterone pill. The components are: Desogestrel 0.15 mg, ethinyl estradiol 20mcg (21 tabs); inert (2 tabs); ethinyl estradiol 10mcg (5 tabs).

So far generic prometrium. But it is for controlling my RA. I had ZERO flares, inflammation, or pain when I spent three months on one form or another of it pre-surgery. Not sure if it is going to be as effective now. If not, will not be on any HRT. But then again I only 7 weeks post-op, so we'll see.

I have been taking Duavee for about 6 months as I am already post menopausal. I also use Progestin cream twice a week.

1mg oral estrodiol once daily

premarin .625 once a day

My doctor just put me on the lowest dose of Premarin today at my followup visit. My insurance covers the cost of HRT.

If I could make a suggestion to all the HyperSisters out there that if their insurance doesn't cover HRT, check manufacturer websites. There are discount cards galore out there that are awesome. When using them make sure the pharmacy plugs it in after your primary insurance even if they don't cover it. Some cards have to have a primary billed first before they kick in.

I'm on vivelle-dot 0.05 mg patch twice a week. And I take a supplement of black cohosh which helps with night sweats and hot flashes. So far I love it
