Talking - da Vinci Hyst- 2nd Day Home da Vinci Hyst- 2nd Day Home

I had my procedure on Feb. 24th. I remember little of the operating room other than when they put in the IV. After that, I was out The reason for my hysterectomy was because they'd found cancer in my uterus - I think it was an actual tumor though I only heard that word used once. Apparently it had grown down so far it was protruding into my vagina. Probably not attractive but as I've never dated I guess I don't have to know XD

My surgery was 5 hours long, and my doctor, a very meticulous woman, took a great deal of care to remove any tissue that could be at risk - ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, and the upper part of my vagina. After waking up in my room, I have a clear memory of thinking my eyes were still taped shut so I didn't try to open them but I remember my mom being there and my dad knocking and me saying that they'd need to open the door for him because he was deaf and wouldn't hear then telling him he could come inside. I also remember waving to my mom as they left again and then I was out once more.

I spent two days in the hospital - the food was actually very good but I didn't, and don't, have much appetite yet. I did hear that the tests my doc ran on my ovaries came back benign but that they still have a lot of tests to do on other tissue and that she'll also want me to have radiation too.

I feel really good. I haven't really had pain and only feel some stiffness and a lot of numbness in my muscle tissue from the base of my throat to the tops of my thighs, which I assume is from the surgery and all the drugs they gave me. Still no sign of this menopause thing but I'm not worried about that. Enjoying the freedom of no longer bleeding profusely is an awesome trade off. I'm also only a little nervous about the results of my tests, but I'm not scared. My mom and a aunt of mine both had different types of cancer and both have fully recovered. I know this is something that can be treated so I'm simply going to enjoy actually being a woman from here on out.

Once again, this forum is amazing and I'm so glad to have found you!! I hope my little story can be of encouragement!

- Tanya
