How long???

How long did you have to wait between your surgery consult and the actual surgery? I have a consult on June 10 and really want to get the Surgery done and over with ASAP. I wanted to use this summer to rest, but that would mean that I need to have the surgery on or before June 20th to be back at full strength before school starts. Is that possible? When I had my endrometrial abalation I only waited 6 days between consult and surgery. Is this possible with a Hyster??

Re: How long???

My appt was on May 7th and my doc pulled out a calander and said he could do every day except the weekends and the 15th and 16th as he was on vacation. I picked June 8th because I had plans before then and didn't have any again until the end of July so it just seemed like good timing. I don't think that's usual though.

Good Luck!!

Re: How long???

I had an endometrial biopsy done and I went in for the results a week later and we decided on TAH. The doctor told me to pick a day to have the surgery. I picked a date that was a month away because my husband was out of vacation days and they were going to be replenished in the next month. I could have had the surgery the following week if I wanted.

Good luck.

My surgery consult was 4/23. Told the surgery coordinator we had vacation during the first week in June so I'd like to go for mid-to-late June.

We decided to cancel vacation so on 4/30 I called to say I could do surgery anytime. On 5/8, I had a phone call scheduling me for 5/26. This was for a da Vinci hysterectomy, which is only done on Tuesdays at my hospital.

I was pleased--just the right amount of time to plan (work & home), no time to worry or stress.

Good luck to you!

Re: How long???

I have to wait 52 days. I had my consultation May 26th and my surgery will be July 17th. Delay 1 - I've had no children and state law requires a 30 day waiting period from time of consent to surgery for women who have not given birth. Then I had to wait until the next available date for the DaVinci machine. Our hospital only has one machine and it is used for a variety of surgeries. Wish my surgery could have been sooner!

I don't think I can wait that long. I wish I could get the consult faster, I just wanna get in and get it done, so I don't have to worry. I take things like this very serious and do a ton of research I think a little too much sometimes. I know that I need to have it done, this is about my health as well as my happiness, but that doesn't make it easy.

Re: How long???

This may not even be something that can be done.
But I wonder if they can set up a surgery date for you now.
Since you know you want/need this surgery. Its just a matter of seeing the Dr...Right?

When I emailed my OBGYN before I met him. He said his surgery schedule was 2-3 weeks out.

I hope you can get your surgery in by June 20th.

Re: How long???

I called and asked about setting a date before my consult, but they can't, and being a mom of 3 young kids (9, 7, and 2) I have to get it done before the 20th or wait until Augest once they are in school which will make recovery even more difficult, and the waiting will be really hard both physically and mentally. In addition to everything else we've been dealing with this would not be a good thing.

Re: How long???

I agree! It amazes me the state places a 30 day restriction on a woman's right to make a decision about her body, just becase she has not had children. Especially on somthing like this. It's not as if my issues just started.

Re: How long???

Wow didn't realize the state could put that restriction on a woman!
I live in a relatively small town, so only had to wait 2 week to schedule my SAH/BSO. Good luck to you!
