3 weeks post op brief

Recovering well no more bleeding or discomfort. I bled for about 2 weeks on and off dark and light. Doc always reassured me all was well. Went througj a round of cipro for uti, they say was caused by the catheder in the hospital. Rechecked urine yesterday and no sign of infection now. What I am not understanding is the nauseating pain just.before a bowel movement that brings me to.tears sometimes. Anyone else with this problem?

Normally when you have a bowel movement, the muscles in your lower abdomen help push the BM out. Right now, those muscles are really sore! Depending on what type of surgery you had, some of them may still have healing incisions. I had some pain with BMs right up through the fifth or sixth week.

One thing that helped me was to sit up straight and do deep breathing exercises. Inhale deeply, then focus on using your abdominal muscles to push the air out of your lungs. Repeat over and over. This seemed to allow the muscles further down to relax and let the BM happen.

Some sisters also recommend putting your feet up while sitting on the throne.

I had abdominal too. Abdominal means that your surgeon had to cut through some muscles and push others out of the way, so yeah, they're pretty sore and some of them are still healing themselves back together.

Re: 3 weeks post op brief

In order to remove your uterus, your surgeon had to cut through the abdominal muscles underlying your skin to get into the abdominal cavity, where your uterus was and various other organs still are. Your abdominal muscles are all still there. They're just somewhat annoyed right now.
