ouch it hurts!!

hi every one its just over 4 weeks since my tah and i was doing very well until i got this throbbing pain in my rectum!!!of course i went to my gp and she discovered i have an anal fissure and gave me supposeotries and cream it two weeks on and im still in pain and bleed at every bowel movement (which im keeping soft by the way )its like im passing glass and realy hurts !! any advice or how long can i expect this to last thanks tracie

I had an anal fissure about 4 years ago - incredibly painful - had no idea what was going on. My GI doctor sent me to a surgeon - I had it surgically repaired and felt fantastic after the surgery. Mine happened on a business trip I had driven 5 hours to - on the return trip I was in tears - sitting on two water bottles. Good luck to you - I would ask doctor if they think it will really heal without surgery - it's a quick outpatient procedure.

Oh No! You poor thing! This isn't a normal hysterectomy complication is it?

No- just had the hysterectomy on March 16th. The anal fissure thing was something completely different for me 4 years earlier. They tested me for Crohn's disease (neg.) Some of us just have all the fun.

I found that the best thing for me was to keep the rectal area moisturized with vitamin e. It wasn't until just last week that mine finally settled down.

I've had fissures off and on for decades and know how you're feeling. The only thing worse was a thrombosed hemorrhoid!

Take a fiber supplement 2-3X's daily w/loads of water and make sure to apply an ointment every time you "go". Hot, hot, hot sitz baths are also a help for your poor bottom. Never use dry paper to wipe after you go. Use dampened loo roll or the wet wipes they have out now.
