Want to know if I am alone

I have been having mood swings and cold all of the time! Tummy is upset all of the time and the headaches....I have migranes these are close but not as bad yet. I cant sleep at night at all and I am always so sleepy that I dont want to do anything. I went to the dr. he gave me lunsta to help sleep( works sometimes) said that I am not going into you know what I am only 35 and he left my right ovary! I asked what it is then! Just kinda blew me off. Said that I have had infections for a long time and that they have that under control all will get better. Well all is not better so I went to my GP. She said that it would be dumb to not see that it is all related to the surgery! She took my levels and said that it shoulded that I am pre-menopause. So she wants to put me on effexor! I am scard because I am not depressed! Anyway after all of this I wanted to know if anyone else has had to take this for the same reason. I am leaning to not taking it because I am not depressed.?? HELP

Want to know if I am alone

You are not alone in how you feel.

One thing that happens to many of us is that our ovary(ies) take a bit of a vacation after our hyst. This can cause us to experience some menopause symptoms for awhile.

There are other women who find that their ovary(ies) do completely fail after their hyst, but only time will tell.

Some doctors offer anti-depressents to women who are facing the first stages of menopause. You can talk to your doctor about how you feel about using them and why your doctor is offering them.

You are also not alone in needing to look to another doctor for your hormone needs. You may even consider finding a new doctor who specializes more in treating the hormone needs of women.

in there! s

you are not alone.....
It is still early in your post-op stages. You had your surgery on Nov. 13th? You are only out about two months. Give your body time to adjust to the major changes it is going through. I wouldn't go on Effexor just yet. I've been on it and the side effects didn't sit well with me. Try reading up on foods and supplements that can help....such as Vitamin B complex. I've also read that Apples have natural estrogen in them. This has helped me. I take a multivitamin, Vit. B Complex, Vit. C and eat an apple or banana about every day. I'm not yet feeling 100% either and I will reach my 4 month mark on the 14th. I've been battling the stomach flu lately and been down in the dumps about it....but I don't want to go back on Effexor. Good luck to you.....remember...at this website, you are NEVER alone.

Want to know if I am alone

You and I could be twins. I've had all of those symptoms post hyst. I waited until my 3 month mark to make sure it was not surgery related. I'm taking a little bit of estrogen is doing wonders. I hated the docs trying to tell me it was all in my head too when sleep was just totally gone. How can sleep totally disappear?? How does Lunesta work for you? Supposedly it is now approved for long term use. I was given Ambien, but it seemed to start lowering my estrogen even more as I started getting more depressed and tired and it was helping less and less after awhile. Since I just started the estrogen I still have days when sleep is a bit tricky, but overall it is getting so much better. I couldn't even drop off before, now I fall asleep on the couch again while watching the tube. Stay away from coffee if you can and sweets at night. Two teabags of Nighty Night tea before bed is really good stuff too. Be careful how much you drink though as then you'll be waking to pee. A half of a mug of water with two teabags is good to get me off to sleep now with the est.
Hang in there. It's not in your head, it is real.

Want to know if I am alone

I talked to my Dr. in length about the effexor, she really wants me to give it a try. She said that she has givien it to many women in my place and has helped them alot. I do trust her. I did just have my surgery on nov.13 TAH left right ovary. I have been back to work now for a week and half part time because I am just not in control of my feeling. The lunsta is doing me some good.

if you are taking lunesta, please read the insert. it says that the medicine will not be as effective if you take it with food that has fat in it. i found out the hard way and all i was eating was a slice of 2% cheese! it works best on an empty stomach, imho.

good luck!

Want to know if I am alone

I'm cold all the time! Drives me crazy. I've had some of the other things off & on --- insomnia, mood swings, headaches.
I have my left ovary and am 37.
My dr. won't consider hormones until at least my next appt. Jan. 22nd (8 wks). I'll have to see what he says then.
