Pre-op yesterday--now I'm nervous!

I had my pre-op yesterday and everything is good to go for my TAH including ovaries on the 27th, but now I'm getting nervous. I'm have been miserable for the past 4-6 months. Was diagnosed with perimenapause for 3yrs. I did find out I have a fibroid on the left side of my uterus and possible adhesions on the right side due to an appendectomy 12yrs. ago. I wanted to get this done for so long--now I'm worried about recovery, complications. DH has been wonderful and so has my 18yr. old son. I'm 42 and my doc. said she would find the right "HRT recipe" for me around my post op appoint. Any words of comfort?

Hi Lisa- Well, it sounds like you are ready for this. I think everyone gets nervous. But think of how much better life will be after your surgery. Hope your nerves calm down. Take care, Sarah

This website is wonderful! I told my gyn about it yesterday and she was going to check it out. Well, better go do some cleaning while I still can. I can't wait to not do any for awhile! LOL )

you will be just fine. waiting is the hardest part

There is a book called The Premature Menopause Book. There is a website as well by a similar name based on the book. It was written for 20, 30, 40 year olds going through menopause and has some great tips in it for dealing with surgical menopause.

You are not alone here! It is normal to be scared, worried, confused, and basically on an emotional rollercoaster. See you on the other side!

Hey.. I am NEW.. i just signed up tonight. I am having a Hyster on June 25, leaving the ovaries. I am very uncertain about what will take place before during and after.... I wish you well am glad to know this forum exists. I am also 42, no children thought...
