night sweats/hot flashes

Hello:
I just joined today. I am almost 2 months since the surgery and I have been having hot flashes during the day and hot flashes at night. Plus I have found I cry much more easily now, crying at tv commericals.. I have only one ovary. I am not on any hormones. Also I am so tired all the time? Does it really take a year to feel like my normal self again.

I had my surgery 3 days before you. I kept both ovaries, however, they needed drilling due to PCOS. I was very emotional, hot flashes, and night sweats, extreme mood swings. My doctor started me on a hormone patch around week 4, I think mostly because I was in his office 3 times before that crying. Anyway, I am still on the patch, just started a lower dose. he wants to wean me off of them in about a month, which makes me very nervous. It really helped alot. I sleep better, no more night sweats, mild hot flashes, emotions are better. I have heard it takes 6 months to a year to feel better.

I'm sorry you're struggling right now.

It does sound as if your remaining ovary isn't working properly and I think the best thing you can do is contact your doctor now to have your hormone levels checked.
