FSH Level

I'm confused here. A few weeks ago I was having an extra heart beat quite often. I posted about it. Anyway I went to my GP and he said was probably benign. He did an EKG and that was normal. He wanted to do a blood test and since he was I asked him to check my hormones because I wanted to see if my ovaries are still working. So I called the nurse yesterday because I never heard from the doctor about my results. My heart rate seems normal now. She said everything was in normal range. I asked about my ovaries and she said my FSH level is 2.3. I think I understand what FSH is but when I was talking to my sister about this she said 2.3 is too low?? Does anyone know anything about this and is that number okay? The nurse didn't mention it being a bad thing. Does this mean my ovaries are producing estrogen or not? Does it mean I am producing progesterone or not?

FSH Level

Hi Betty!

Here's a link to some helpful information about FSH tests:

http://www.earlymenopause.com/tests.htm

When in doubt, I think it's best to call the doctor and ask for an interpretation of the results. You can also request a copy of the test which should also include the lab values and a range of what is considered normal. Ultimately how you are feeling is a good indicator of how well your ovaries are working.

I hope this helps!

FSH Level

I have no idea Betty. I'm wondering if I'm normal. I had a blood test done 3 weeks before surgery so I could compare it with one done later in May when I have a appt with a specialist in bio-identicals. According to that link I'm off the map. I had the test done approx. mid cycle. Estradol reads 428 (OMG) and Progesterone is 2. Note underneath says normal range. IMO it seems the Estrogen is high which would prove my thoughts that Dr. Lee is correct.....high Estrogen leading to massive alien fibroid growing at light speed, migraines and all the other Estrogen dominant symptoms.
I experience heat in my body at times. No flashes just over heated (for past 5 years) and usually at night while sleeping. It's worse if I drink alcohol. Not that I've had alcohol since the hyst but hoping to have a glass of wine with turkey dinner. Over heated as if my internal furnace can't shut off and I have no sweating with it.
I'm looking forward to getting a balance.
One thing I noticed since the hyst....I can't spell worth a darn anymore....LOL..
