almost 4 weeks and need help...

Wondering....if anyone is having the same problems. It will be 4 weeks this thursday and my bowels are messed up , by that I mean I cant go and after 5 days I finally have to use a laxtet to go and by then its all day running to the bathroom. I do use a stool softener 3 times a day. The other issue is everytime I pee my bladder has pressure and the dr thought I had a bladder infection and It turn out not. Also the very last thing is ...pain and sometimes sharp pain in lower abdominal where the end of where the c-section is, and a pulling feeling in my stomach and that area. The only good thing is no more Periods...but beside that its hasnt been going good. Oh and I lost 12 Pounds already due to not eating good ...I have alot of stomach cramps after eating no matter what it is. I will appericate any help...I do see the Dr today...so any suggestion , would also be great.

Thank You

Re: almost 4 weeks and need help...

Littlebytes,

I am 4 weeks today. April 14th was my LAVH.

I too have pressure when I pee. I also have it when I move from one position to another. Some days are better than others.

As for the bowels, mine are all messed up. Yesterday, I couldn't stay off the pot. Regulation hopefully will come to you soon. I was told to use miralax at week 2 when I was having issues then.

As for the cramping, I was told I could be ovulating as I did keep my ovaries. I am having the pain today and my husband even needed to come home from work so that I could lay down and rest. I also am feeling extremely constipated as well.

I wish I had the problem of losing the weight as I have retained the weight from the surgery and I think even put on some as people sent me cookies and then I have been eating everything under the sun (mainly chocolate), since.

Good luck and I do hope that your doctor was able to give you some insight as well. Sorry so late on my response. I can completely sympathize.

Re: almost 4 weeks and need help...

I too was having bowel issues. I got the word to use miralax but I also have decided to do more natural things eating fruit more. Also remember if you are eating less there is not enough food going in to "push" it out. :-) So try to eat more even when you don't.

It takes me so long in the bathroom when I go but I am thankful I am going. Another suggestion is prune juice. Have not needed that yet thank goodness!

LittleBytes3: I can tell you that I do understand how you feel. I am over 3 months post op now and like you wondered what was going on at that time. Rest assured that the bowels have been moved and rearranged during surgery and it may take up to 3 months to feel somewhat better in that area. Miralax worked well for me and also had a stool softener in it. Also, pain meds can in itself cause constipation if you are still taking them. I had that bladder sensation up until just recently and then it went away. It is from nerves being severed and the bladder being severely traumatized but WILL get better around 3 months. The pulling sensation is from the stitches dissolving and the tissue stretching. I have found that rubbing the incision when in the shower with soap will help desensitize this area, but be patient as the stitches are designed to dissolve in 6 - 8 weeks, and you may have some pulling sensation for up to 6 months. The sharp shooting pain can be nerves that are regenerating and will settle in time, and also ovulation. I didn't think I would ever feel better, but it does get better. Hang in there.

Re: almost 4 weeks and need help...

Most sisters seem to suffer in this area. I take Metamucil caps 3 times a day to add more bulk as I am probably not eating as much as usual. This is now working very well for me. I am 3 1/2 weeks post-op. I still have bladder pain/cramps when I go also same with BM's. It seems to result from the trauma of the operation and I am very hopeful will disappear in time. Every time I move I feel twinges in the area of the incision and inside. Nothing major but I am reminded all the time of what we have gone through. I think we just have to be patient and not try too hard to do stuff.

Re: almost 4 weeks and need help...

Jasnick,

I absolutely love the fact that you seem so calm and relaxed. I have been so frustrated and moody.

Reading your post honestly has just helped me more than you will know. '

It is so hard to keep focus of what has been done, when you hear daily from people that tell you they have friends that have had it done and they were feeling this way or that way after a certain period of time. I even have a friend who had hers 3 or 4 years ago, tried telling me it was okay if I had sex immediately and was surprised when I told her my doctor said NO.

I am grateful, that you reminded me...

Thank you

TX-RN

I am also grateful for you and all your knowledge. You also responded to one of my posts and I am extremely appreciative of that. You were correct as well. Confirmed by doctors office.

How long have you been nursing? What field?

Sweet1671

Glad I could be of help. I wasn't so calm last week when I was up 4 or 5 times a night peeing - I really started to worry, then almost overnight I started to sleep more and now only get up a couple of times. Sleeping on my sides was also a big milestone for me - at one stage I never thought that would happen.

So although I am in a hurry to get better, there is no easy way - just do what you can when you can and try not to worry. One day at a time is now my motto!!!

Re: almost 4 weeks and need help...

Hi ...Thanks to all her respond to my post...That really made me feel better. I did go to Drs yesterday and he thinks the bowels issues is not helping. So now taking Senna once a day a stool softener and a Gas x . This morning woke up with a stomach ache. Before even taking anything....ugh!! Also he did a culture ( Like a Pap ) because he thinks I might have a Infection and my Intenses , because of telling him after I eat..I have bad stomach cramps. Also they say I have again a bladder infection...but then later its not. I just cant wait for this all get better...

Thanks Again
