Upcoming hysterectomy & BSO 1/13 - scared about sexual pain and dysfunction after surgery

I'm scheduled for total hysterectomy with both ovaries Jan 13. It's preventative surgery due to terrible family history. I'm finding this site a blessing and a curse.😐 I'm scared by the negative boards about sexual pain and dysfunction after surgery. Does anyone know if this is common? I'm going on hrt immediately but I'm getting so frightened after reading so much scary stuff. Any advice or input?

Sex after surgery is different for everyone. Some say it is better, some say it is worse, and everywhere in between.

I had a TAH BSO, and I am also on HRT. For me, sex feels different. My orgasms are not as intense - I miss the muscle contraction of my uterus. But, they are more frequent. We do have to use lubricant, and that frustrates me. I also have started using vaginal cream - twice a week - and that also frustrates me. DH cannot tell any difference.

I had a TLH & BSO and I've been on HRT since 48hrs post op.
I've had no issues with pain. I have found that new muscles have taken on muscle contracting during orgasm so from about 1yr post op the intensity of orgasm has increased.
I have no, and I mean zero libido. However this is due to the heavy duty meds I have to take for bipolar and all the HRT in the world can't fix it.

Hi there, I'm having my total hysterectomy with BSO also and my surgery is this Tuesday the 5th. My cervix will be removed also due to my history ...Nervous! I too am concerned on how my sex drive will be afterwards but due to stage 4 Endo ,Adenomyosis , cysts and tumors, I feel and hope sex won't be painful. Even tho i have a good libido, endo makes it difficult even when sex is great, bc of pain.
