Ouch, my back hurts - 7 days post hysterectomy

So, I am 7 days post op. I have defiantly noticed that every day I keep getting a little better pain wise. My incision still hurts and burns really quite bad. It is also very tight. My binder helps a lot though. I cut my Vicodin in half this morning and only going to take it as needed. I have no choice but to go back to work 1/2 days starting monday so I need to completely get off narcotics even though i still feel like I need them. Using advil morning and night. I have been doing this since I got home sunday. Anyway, my back has been killing me. I noticed in my past if I get sick and have to relax for more then 1 day, my back and hips start hurting. Well I have been practically off my feet more then on them the last week and my back is KILLING me. Pain meds do not help at all. Does anyone have any ideas?
Also, any ideas how to make hot flashes easier to tolerate? They seem to be worse in the evening.

Re: Ouch, my back hurts

I wonder if your bed is too soft or too hard? Or if putting a pillow under your knees would help to relax the back muscles? My back is hurting now and I can tell it's because I'm using it and not abs while I"m sitting up in bed here. If a heating pad doesn't help maybe a little massage would work. Sure couldn't hurt!
I'm sorry you're in pain especially before going back to work. If you find something that does help please share.

Re: Ouch, my back hurts

I am having severe back pains whenever I try to stand up for too long. Taking a shower can be excruciating, and I have to go sit down immediately after I turn off the water. I had back issues before the surgery, but it wasn't painful like this. I am assuming that the surgery and the "funny" way I am walking has exacerbated my issues. (My being overweight isn't helping either.) As soon as I am approved......I am going to have to find some exercises to ease this pain. (And lose some more weight!)
