Upcoming hysterectomy (TVH) and pelvic floor repair

Good morning. I am new here. Surgery scheduled for March 16, 2015. TVH and Pelvic floor repair. I'm scared and would like to know what recovery was like.

All of your fears, nerves, emotions, and freakouts are very normal. This is one tough surgery to face and process.

Everyone's recovery is different. But, as I am sure you know, this is MAJOR SURGERY and you will have lots of healing to do. Recovery takes time - think in terms of weeks and not days. Pelvic floor repair can also add time to the recovery process. You will need time off work. How long depends on how fast you recover and your job duties. However, think weeks and not days. During recovery, you will need help at home with cooking, cleaning, dishes, laundry, shopping, driving, etc. You will not be bed ridden, but you will be very tired and need to rest. You will also be walking - brief, but frequent walks - and these help you heal.

I know this is an overwhelming experience for you, and it is hard to wrap your brain around this. Just know that you are not alone, and we are here to help and support you.
