how long does the fatigue last

I'm 3 months post-op and I STILL get tired by the end of the day. All of my other symptoms are gone and I'm doing great except for the tiredness. I do think, however, that part of it is due to the time of year. Aren't we all a little more tired during the holidays? Remember it can take anywhere from 6 months to a year before we are completely back to normal. Oh, I do still have a little swelly belly by the end of the day. YUCK!

how long does the fatigue last

My doctor said that the fatigue is unfortunately, usually the last "symptom" of surgery to go away. He also said that it usually takes at least 6 months before you start feeling somewhat back to normal. Hang in there! It does get better with time!

how long does the fatigue last

I have a friend who had a hysterectomy about 10 years ago, and told me it took her about a year till she felt really good. But it just takes time. I am also there. And just glad that this isnt mysterious and that I share in this with you all. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a restful one

how long does the fatigue last

I had my dearest friend tell me pre-op to rest then rest then rest some more. Until I had my surgery, I didn't have a clue what she was talking about. I have TVH in May and thought this is a breeze...ha cough cough nap. The worst now is fatigue and swelly belly. Yeah I ask her after her surgery if she gained weight. Her honest answer was Yes. So my goal now is to lose weight, get as much rest as I can and to go the gym and build up my stamina. It does get better - so I hear. I guess it's a hormone thingy or something.

how long does the fatigue last

The fatigue does ease up. I am also hypo thyroid that can at times cause severe fatigue, for no reason, and I am actually better now with that than I was pre surgery. The fatigue doesn't just disappear overnight, but in retrospect I now feel like it is pretty much gone! Today I am 7 months post op, and still not smoking! I also go for walks and am starting to go to a gym, so my tiredness is being replaced by soreness! But I think just getting some exercise has helped the fatigue to go away. Good luck!

how long does the fatigue last

It has been over three months for me and I still get very tired at times, sometimes in the middle of my work day. But I do work at a daycare with one-year-olds so that in itself can be exhausting, so I don't sit much until they go down for nap. I have heard from several sources that it can take up to a year to get total strength again.

how long does the fatigue last

Mine lasted til well into the new year after my surgery last year. Many things play into it, I think. How busy you are forced to be, whether you have any other ongoing physical problems. Try to take it slow until your energy level returns.

how long does the fatigue last

I took a two hour nap, today, got up just in time to make a yummy Christmas dinner for the family. I still seem to truly NEED a nap more days than not, so I am not fighting that. It was still a wonderful holiday, nap and all!
