I have been reading some of the treads of 1 year anns. and how some of you feel now. My anns. will Jan.6 and I still struggle with my weight. It doesn't matter is I walk or cut down, the weight is still there. I do use the Vill. pot patch.75mg. I was on lexpro and wellbutrin and I came off them about 3 months ago. Mood swings are with patch. I came do more to lose I'm sure, but my appetite is awful. Otherwise I feel ok and would do better 25 lbs lighter. Help???

Hi nifty fifty!

I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with weight gain issues -- so am I! I believe that, whether one has had a hysterectomy or not, whether one takes anti-depressant medication or not, whether one takes HRT or not....our body changes over the years, and the "caloric intake versus expenditure in exercise" that may have kept us slim and fit in our teens, 20's, 30's and 40's...may not be the the same "formula" for subsequent decades.

You may find, like I have, that you need to reduce your daily caloric intake (by limiting yourself to lower-fat, lower-calorie foods in moderate portions) and increase your daily physical activity, in order to lose weight and maintain that weight loss. Even if you never had to do this before in your life -- this might be the time that you need to.

Believe me, I would love to eat prime rib, baked potato with butter and sour cream, and apple pie ala mode for dinner -- and afterwards lay on the couch watching movies...but I can't do that anymore or I would be a big, fat blop of goo! After having a broiled chicken breast or fish fillet, and mixed green salad with vinegar and oil, I need to exit the front door of my house and walk 5 miles instead.

I hope that others will be along soon to share their experiences in maintaining a healthy weight and fitness level.

Many s and Best Wishes,
