Questions about vaginal hysterectomy

Hello All,
I was 5 weeks post-op yesterday. Had TVH w/rect/cyst left ovaries and I'm doing pretty good. My energy level is slowly getting back to normal. The only real complaint I have is that I can't sit comfortably for too long.

I went back to work at 2 weeks post-op for a few hours. At first, I was ok, but then got weak, then got better the longer I was there. I think I was there 4/5 hours. Anyway, I've been working every Friday since then for a few hours, but the sitting and back hurting has been what I had problems with.

I agree with the others, you just have to wait and see how you feel. I work for a small company and my boss says take as long as you need, but we sure do miss you (he says with a smile). I'm going to see how I feel next week and maybe work two days instead of one. If I don't feel up to it, I won't. I know everyone isn't in my situation, so if you have to give a time, give as long as you can and go from there.

My hospital stay was from Friday (surgery 10:45 am) to Monday around lunch. I was in alot of pain and I think it was because they were just giving me stuff to make me sleep and not ibuprofen or tylenol. I finally realized that stupid percocet they were giving me (2) was not relieving the paid and did ask for ibuprofen. That was on Sunday night and the DD had taken out the gauze packing Sunday, so I was able to move a little better. I actually didn't get out of the bed except when they moved me to another floor and then Monday I took a shower. I probably looked like a newborn something on my wabbly legs.

I have had four kids (22,17,15 and 13) and this is like when I had my oldest daughter. I couldn't sit down for 6 weeks for long. Hopefully, this helps. Again, your surgery/recovery is unique to you. Just be sure to take it easy and rest. And just like everyone says, just because you start feeling better, don't do anything strenuous. The only thing I did that I wasn't supposed to in the first two weeks was picking up my grandson, Tyler. He's twenty something pounds, but I just couldn't keep my hands off him.

Rest, Rest, Rest,
Menonni (Tammy Morgan)
