Swelly belly? But I'm bloated now!

Hi everyone!

Okay, so I'm getting the jitters - surgery is Thursday & I'm getting pretty nervous. I've been reading the boards; I'm so glad to have all this information right at my fingertips. You guys are really pulling me through this!

I've been reading alot about the "swelly belly" that happens to many women post-op. But is anyone swelly/bloated/gassy pre-op? I feel bloated just about all the time; nothing really serious, but just enough to notice & feel a bit uncomfortable. I've been doing alot of walking and stretching, but to no real avail. Is anyone else experiencing (or has anyone else experienced) this?

Thanks so much - Denise

Swelly belly? But I'm bloated now!

Hi, yes , waiting for surgery is nerve racking - but yours is almost here so hang in there ! Swelly belly before surgery was real for me also ( I had uterine tumors), gas also added to mine. Swelly belly after surgery is often caused by swelling where incisions were made and goes down as you heal. you can help that by following your dr's advice, resting, drinking lots of liquids , taking short easy walks & letting others do the hard stuff for you. Good luck ,s

Yes!! I have a swelly Belly

I am so bloated all the time. At times i think i could just cry. The pressure is to much at times. I always feel like i need to go to the bathroom.

I keep reading about how much better one feels when the hysterectomy and pain are over with.
I find out on the 14th when i will have mine. Good luck with yours. I know what you are going through.
I will keep you in my prayers.

Swelly belly? But I'm bloated now!

Denise,

Pre surgery I felt bloated & uncomfortable ALL the time! Gassy, hard bms, all that good stuff. Had to buy a size larger in jeans to accomodate my belly!

Post surgery 10 days & I feel like I've had surgery & am swollen, but not like before. Also, can already tell that once I am healed my belly will be smaller than it has been in a long time. I'm very excited about that!

I know everyone is different but just thought I would let you know there is hope.

I had a 10cm ovarian cyst & fibroids. It effected my whole digestive system & made me feel awful. I wasn't able to do as much as some of the other ladies prior to surgery as it was too uncomfortable to move around. I'm so looking forward to better days ahead.

Best wishes to you,

Mongie

Oh yes...

The gas wars are on! The DH and DS don't have ANYTHING on me! Bloating, hard bowels, constant urination, tummy constantly grumbling from the gas that is, well, "caught"...

Hang in there - but before your surgery - REVENGE!! This may be the only time in life that you can measure up to them and gain their respect in this catagory!

Seriously - try Gas X, or a similar product. I helps!

bloat bloat bloat

Hi Girls,
I too have major swollen belly... and I mean swollen. I am constantly in pain...or times just discomfort...then back to pain. My gas is unbelievable! It is just shocking the pressure that gets expelled from one's body....down right embarasing. I too am hopeing for releif after surgery! Only 20 more days to go! I am counting the moments!! I am hoping so much for a better quality of life as the past year has really been hell. If it wasn't for my supportive DH and 2 DD's I would be doomed!!! And of cours this site is a gift from God! Well lets all hang in there together!
