Surgery next week and woke up with sore throat and caugh

Does this mean they will cancel or have to reschedule the surgery? I really hope I can kick this before the surgery date, but was up half the night worrying about it. I just got all the Short term disability paper work done and approved (except for the State stuff - I can't do that until the day of surgery.) Anyone get sick before their surgery date? What happened? I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow - should I wait and see the doctor then, or go see someone today?

I would make a call to the doctor's office. Better to be safe than sorry. They will probably ask if you are running a fever. Being sick post-op is no fun as vomiting after surgery is painful . I caught the flu in the hospital and my 2 days turned into 6 days because they wouldn't release me until fever dropped for 24 hours.

I would definately call your doctor and let them know your symptoms. Illness before surgery can warrant pushing the surgery date to a later date so you can be healthy for surgery. That's about all the advice I can give you. Best wishes!
