LAVH: Upcoming hysterectomy 12/22: A bottle of nerves

Good evening, my hystersisters, I'm one week from my surgery today and so nervous and scared. I know as it get closer to the date...it will get worse. Really can use some girl talk with you all. I have broke down to the hubby and my little messed up moments and thoughts. Have anyone experienced that before?

All of the nerves, emotions, feelings, fears and freakouts that you are feeling are all very normal. The intensity of these feeling can really increase as your surgery date approaches. This is a very difficult surgery to process and digest.

I several times before my surgery, and many more times after. It took a long time to emotionally heal from this surgery. We understand exactly what you are going through. We are here for you - you are not alone.

I'm glad to know it's not just me!

Ask if you can have an Ambien the night before surgery, but turn in early so you get a full nights sleep. I told my anesthesiologist, " I want out quickly and don't care to remember a thing!' My Dr arranged for an all female staff, I was so nervous. And that's ok. A friend just couldn't understand why I was soooo nervous. Well duh, it's a very important part of my body they they are messin' with !!!! it's ok to be nervous, but stay extremely busy, so you don't think on it too much. I had a meltdown the morning of, hubby was very supportive and the staff was great !!!!!

Hugs!!! I was thankful for a very busy life to keep my mind off things beforehand. I was kind of on autopilot and couldn't let my mind go to that bad things that might happen. Thankfully I was pretty calm morning of but I know you can ask for some anti anxiety meds.

My surgery is just at 3 weeks away with my pre op the day after Christmas and my nerves just started kicking back in today they have been pretty dormant since I made the appointment but the realization this is my last full week of work, and still waiting to hear from insurance/billing has me on pins and needles. You certainly are not alone in how you feel *hugs*

My surgery is in 10 hours and I just started with the waterworks. Luckily I still had time to take a Xanax and I will be asking for anxiety meds asap at the hospital. Good luck to you all! I'm sure it'll all be fine.
