Nerve-wracking wait

I am in this nerve wracking wait as well-so much going through my head. Nervous-it is a major and long surgery to be certain. I want to have everything as comfortable as possible for after surgery. I am trying to prepare things but my husband is more of a "wait and see" if it is necessary. It is really making me worse.

Also-my pelvic pain has been bad the past few days-probably hormonal as well as physical. I have been spending a lot of time on the heating pad.

Nerve-wracking wait

To all of you that are waiting to have your ops and scared I hope all goes well for you.

I had my op on July 9th last year and I can honestly say that i don't know where the time has gone. You will all be feeling fit and well before you know it.

Explain to the dr's how worried you are feeling and they will try to ease your concerns I'm sure.

Good luck!

Nerve-wracking wait

In the weeks before my surgery, I got my house in order, and talked things over with my family and friends......

Between the calming words of wisdom from my "Sisters" here, and asking my Doctor a boatload of questions, I found that being armed with good information going in, kept my anxiety levels a lot lower!!

Hang in there!!

I used my waiting time to get my whole house in top shape. Cleaned everything I could get my hands on. I especially set up the room I would recover in. We have a water bed, so I knew there was no way I could recover in it for a while. I got the guest room all set up with the things I would need on the night stand, clean sheets, blankets, etc. Also made food ahead of time so it would be easy for myself or who ever was taking care of me could just pop something in the microwave. I also posted pet care instructions on the frig, so my furry babies would be taken care of too!! Right before I went in, I made sure all cars had gas in them, and that my son who still lives at home had $$ so he could feed himself!!

My motto was, "Plan for the worst, hope for the best!" I had a really hard recovery, and I was glad that the house was one thing that I did not have to worry about. In 27 years of marriage, it was the first time that I just let go and let some one take care of me. And it was nice.

Good luck with your surgery!!!!

Nerve-wracking wait

I am 4 days post opt I had my surgery on March 10th and I feel fantastic!!!
it was far worse than I thought it would be I too have never had any surgery what so ever, So I can relate to your nervousness but know waiting truly is the hardest part.just stay busy clean , clean and clean have groceries shopping done have quick foods like can soup and fresh fruit ,jello and health granola bars handy for when know ones around you have something quick but healthy still. I recommend that you take it slow after surgery but it is important to move so that blood clots don't form in your legs or phenomena in your respiratory system(lungs) that is why you should get up and move plus you will get stronger each time you do.
I wish you the very best you'll be fine.

Nerve-wracking wait

I too seem to be feeling very similar things to you. I am very happy to have a date set but it is still 2 months away & it's soooo hard not to fret & think about everything 100 times a day!!

From what I have read though, this is the hardest part, which is something I try to keep in mind. I've started to think about meals that I can cook & freeze, books that I've been meaning to read & movies/tv shows that I haven't gotten around to watching yet. Knowing that after the surgery I will hopefully feel alot better & can start living a 'normal' active life again gets me through the tough moments.

I am glad everyone seems to be on the same mindset as me. I think it is important to have things set up before hand. We have full time help so thankfully-I don't have to worry about cleaning or who will feed the kids, etc. while hubby is at work. I am working on getting our room set up as a recovery room and I ordered some netflix movies to start rolling in. I am going to set a tv up in our bedroom although Mr. Yoga (and me really) don't really like tv's in bedrooms. Gotta do what I gotta do though.
