more questions...
im sure i will have even more but as i read i have a couple .. i know i can ask here and not feel stupid!
so will this help with my PMS.. it has gotten so bad that the week before im in pain.. my head is busting and im crying at my pen dropping on the floor.. its almost to the point i cant function.. i am keeping my ovaries so will i still go through my pms every month.. just not have a period?? i know i sound stupid but..
also.. i keep reading about insurance and waiting for approvals and such. my dr never said a word to me about insurance and i havent heard from the office since i got a date.. im with <insurance company name removed per website TOS> so i know i have to have prior approval .. i have really really bad periods heavy and making it difficult to do anything.. as well as my bladder has dropped significantly.. i am having a TVH with a bladder slling as well as any repairs necessary.. i know my dr said my uterus was dropping as well and that was causing pressure on the bladder.. my vaginal walls are also prolapsing.. so hes gonna repair..
but they have never mentioned a denial or having any problems.. should i be concerned???

We are all here to support one another and any concern that is important to you can be posted and questioned here and there is always someone else who comes along and says that is something they are worried about as well!
Someone will be along soon that does know the answers.

Re: more questions...
Hi Gray27,
I had TVH with anterior/posterior repairs on 1/12/10; so I am offically 2 weeks post OP. I didn't experiene any issues with insurance, most doctors know how to get around that red tape. Usually the insurance companies require tests, and less invasive procedures: birth control pills, laproscopic surgery, etc.
As far as PMS is concerned if you keep your ovaries you will still have PMS symptoms but maybe a milder version. I had horrible periods and PMS pain. I will have to see what happens next months because I had the surgery around my PMS time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. And you will hear this over and over: The waiting is much worse then the actual surgery. You will do just fine, try to keep a positive attitude and if possible do some exercise like yoga or walking. I am having a really smooth recovery and I think its because I was in pretty good shape. You can also begin making lists of things you need to buy or do to prepare. These things will help take your mind off of the surgery and also help you prepare.
Good Luck!

Re: more questions...
In my case I didn't have any problems with insurance because I had an ablation in August and it failed, and prior to that I had been on every birth control known to mankind and it didn't keep me from bleeding heavily and having pain. I do know that doctors are able to cut through most red tape with the insurance if there is a problem.
As for PMS, I had one cycle since surgery and my PMS was reduced significantly. I do notice that I have more cravings for salty foods than I used to though, especially garlic dill pickles. Very odd.

Re: more questions...
If you have PMS prior to a hysterectomy, you can have PMS after. I have read of ladies finding the symptoms did decrease with time. For me, PMS was far worse post hysterectomy than prior. I had used birth control pills for years to help with my cycles and apparently they had helped me with PMS far more than I had realized! Over time, my PMS symptoms have decreased but some months can still be humdingers!
If you are concerned about the insurance situation, call your doctor's office and ask. There is usually one person in the office who handles getting the insurance approvals and s/he should be able to let you know how everything is going with your paperwork.

Re: more questions...
I would talk to your doctors billing department to find out about the insurance. Usually they can get approval so that is not a problem. But ask if you are worried. Good luck with your surgery.
