Being admitted the day before surgery

My Dr. is admitting me to the hospital the day before my surgery on May 17. I don't have the details yet, but have been told it is to stabilize my multiple health problems (lupus, asthma etc.). I just didn't think they did this anymore.

Has anyone else been admitted the day before surgery?

Being admitted the day before surgery

I was admitted the day before.
Because I have a heart murmur (I was born with it) - they wanted to run a series of tests before letting me have surgery.

It makes for a long, boring and tension building day. I suggest you bring something to distract you - some music, or books or crosswords, what ever will help you stay calm and relaxed.

best wishes to you for surgery and recovery.

Being admitted the day before surgery

My aneth. wanted me to go in the night before so that they could start me on blood thinners as I tend to suffer badly from DVT's and clots in the lungs to the heart. However my surgeon (sp?) said no as he doesn't want to run any risks on the day.

So I think that if you have other needs to be met before surgery then yes they might admit you the day before.

Good luck
