Scared out of my mind!!

Scared out of my mind! I will have my hysterectomy (keeping the ovaries if possible), on Monday the 22nd. I deal with high blood pressure and I was scared when I went through pre-op!! I've been bleeding now going on 3 weeks and I have 3 fibroid tumors. I'm experiencing alot of gas and bloating, is this common? Also a pain on my upper right side? I've taken all kinds of gas medicines nothing works! Help!

Scared out of my mind!!

When I was reading your post I thought...."this gal really needs to have a hysterectomy". I know it's a scary thought but trust me....you are doing the right thing! Try not to be scared. Your life is going to improve immensely after surgery. They will give you meds for pain and monitor your blood pressure as well. Try to have a positive attitude. You certainly can't go on living like you are right now, right? All of us "princesses" have been in your place and believe me, as difficult and mind wracking as waiting is....it is so worth it!

Scared out of my mind!!

I also am scheduled for Aug 22nd. I had a pre op appt today and Dr. told me if BP is too high the day of surgery they may cancel. I know BP can be elevated during times of stress so maybe the key is to staying as calm as possible and focus on the recovery not the surgery. Thats what I am going to try to do and faith will be the key. I have not experienced gas but I have been experience cramping every evening along with intermittent bleeding. I am more then ready for this to be behind me. Fibroids have caused me enough inconvenience and I have had no control over my life since I have been diagnosed with them 4 months ago. Good luck

Scared out of my mind!!

Everyone is different, but....I experienced a higher blood pressure than normal during my pre-op and after surgery, but it didn't stop the surgery. As to the gas, etc. I had major problems during my (also lengthy) periods, and in hindsight wonder if the adenomyosis was responsible. Since the surgery I've had no problems.

Scared out of my mind!!

YOU will do fine!!! COnsider yourself DOWN for at least 2 good weeks and lafter that-----things will start to look up!!! I'm into my 3rd week and today my mom took my to the store to get some things I needed for the house. Hubby wanted to go BUT I ready to get OUT of here!!!! Didn't lift anything----just enjoyed the outing. I usually get a little depressed after my 2nd week of surgery BECAUSE things are moving too slow for me!!! ( I think that's women in general!!!!) ENJOY your time off and fine great books to read EVEN though you're like me-----I don't read much because I'm too busy doing other things!!!!
GOOD LUCK....
You'll do fine!!!!
