I need some reassurance on weight loss here...

Hi All! I am 4 weeks out from my hysterectomy with both overies removed. I am on Cenestin 1.25mg daily. My concern here now is weight loss. I read, quite alot, about women who are having a heck of a time losing weight after their surgeries. In the past year, before my surgery, I have managed to lose 80 lbs by eating less and excercising daily. I am so near my goal, I have 15 more pounds to lose. Now I so scared I won't be able to get there. Since my surgery I have basically maintained my weight. I guess what I need is some reassuring words of wisdom from you, your stories and your challenges on this issue. Thank you so much. Mindy
p.s. I'm feeling rather well these days too, almost feel back to normal again!

You have mastered the "secrets" to weight loss. Once you are cleared to start exercising and then build to the duration and intensity you were at post op and monitor your intake of calories to less than you bun you will lose the rest of the weight. It will take some time but you can do it!!

If it helps, I'm three months post-op and down 11 pounds without really doing much but getting back to running (I run three miles every other day). What I've been told - but it could be an old wives' tale here - is that most women tend to lose weight in the first six months then gradually gain. There's no scientific reason I can give for that. However, all of the women I know that took that little tale to heart and did what you're doing - exercising and being conscious of the risk - weigh less than prior to surgery. Still, it's that fear - I'm still a single girl here and quite petite so an ounce shows up - that's keeping me on the straight and narrow. Good luck!

I am 8 days past my surgery. I'm so excited that I lost 11 pounds! My biggest concern is how to keep it off! i know I cant exercise yet, but I would like to
lose another 10 pounds so I certainly understand your concern. My friends tell me it is harder than ever after surgey so I would love to hear some suggestions and success stories.
