dVH/RALH: Pre-Op appointment this afternoon, list of questions for the doctor

So I have my pre-op appointment this afternoon (was sb this am but they rescheduled me).

I have put together my list of questions but keep feeling like I'm missing something. Does anyone have another other questions they found helpful to ask or wish they had asked at their pre-op? I'm starting to get very nervous. Sorry for the candidness of my questions below, I'm copying and pasting the list that I typed up for my doctor. Thanks for any help and advice.

What if it’s all in my head? What if it’s really bad? I’m very afraid that I will get into surgery and it will either be all in my head or worse than I could have imagined.

What if there is there is no endometriosis? Still do hysterectomy?

What could cause me to have to convert to full abdominal?

Realized more pain on left than I acknowledged to myself. Could this be endometriosis instead of the scar tissue I always thought it was?

What are my restrictions? Lifting, bending, driving, etc.

When can I have sex for the last time prior to surgery?

Likely healing time? When to expect resuming normal “activities?” External vs internal, etc.

Should I be able to stay home alone on Wednesday?

What is a vaginal cuff?

Had bladder control problems in the past, could this be endometriosis? Sometimes I feel like I have to go a lot and end up only going only a little, and a few times had night time wets in bed.

How will everything be secured after the uterus is removed? What are the chances of prolapsed (and what exactly is it anyway)? What’s to keep the vagina from turning inside out since it’s not attached to a uterus anymore?

Where the cervix is now, what will the end of the canal be like at the end? Can we make sure I don’t get any deeper or longer?

Can you use some of the same incision sites as my gall bladder surgery?

When can I expect to go home? How long will I need someone with me?

Those sound like excellent questions for your doctor. I asked many of the same ones myself. Some other questions I asked:

Will you use mesh in me?
Will I still be able to orgasm? Will it feel different?
Will I have issues with lubrication?
Will I go into menopause sooner?
How will you get my uterus out through my vagina?

I wish you luck with your appt. It sounds like you are well prepared and I think doctors respect patients who are involved and have intelligent questions for them.
