Hey guys
I've been in a funk since my surgery in May 16. I started feeling really good quickly so I started to do some light exercises only to find myself sore or spotting.
I was doing 2 hrs of yoga 6 days a week and I was very, very active. Since the surgery, I have gain weight and lost ALL my muscle tone.
What type of weight exercising can I do? Can I do light dumbbell exercises? I need to do something. I'm really sinking and I don't feel good about myself.

Hi, I know how you feel. I had a radical hysterectomy on 31st May, and like you, was very active before the operation. I used to run 5 miles a day and swim lots too. Now I'm struggling to walk more than 30 minutes! I'm from the UK and I've been told I can start swimming at week 4, which is next week. Good luck!

I had a TVH with rectocele and enterocele on June 1 I know the feeling. I love the gym.
I have put on weight. Feel horrible.
All the reading says after those repairs you can no longer do squats or lunges.
I was never for going on the treadmill just think the outdoors is better I use the gym for weights and the glue machine.
Now I read that after those repairs squats are off limit seems like forever. Really? Wow?
So I take it that means lunges, walking lunges and glute machine.
I am depressed. I'm seeing my Dr for a 6 week check up in a few days. I need to get this cleared. I can wait a few months but no forever.
Have any of you gained weight?
I gained 4lbs not that much but still

Hi hun I've only gained 1lb but I've managed to go back the gym for the last 2 weeks! I can now swim 40 lengths and I've even managed to walk/light jog 2 miles. Xxx I'm in need of doing some weights. Going to speak to my doctors at my appointment next week.

I hear you!! I am not eating as much but gaining weight.....it’s really hard not to do any sort of physical activity besides walking. Any small weight exercises that I can do? I’m two weeks out and I don’t know how I will make it to 6 weeks

Hi Kempaam!
You really need to check with your doctor to find out what you can and can't do at this and at any point of your recovery. While it's hard to wait, it's important that you allow your body to fully heal before you start easing back into your normal activities.
If you haven't already found it, here is the link to the Recovery Progress Reports thread for your surgery week where you can post updates with those who had surgery the same week as you. You can also start new threads in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum to ask any recovery questions that you have.

I know it’s frustrating and upsetting - but if you think of this time that it is your full time job to heal and make sure that everything is ready to go again when you have your restrictions lifted then it can help. I’m working on getting back what I had before surgery - but remember you are fresh post op and need to be kind and gentle to yourself. It will come back but you have to heal first.
