Adding to the surgery

I am scheduled for a LAVH with a BNS (bladder neck suspension), they will also be repairing my rectocele and cystocele. With them doing the LVAH they plan to take my uterus and fallopian tubes. Well, when I wrote on my new to hystersisters April Dawn thought I should ask if they are taking my cervix too and sure enough they are. With all that they are doing and now another thing has my anxiety up. I am not 100% sure why and will find out more at my pre-op appointment however that isn't until April 7th. I am completely assuming it is because of my adenomyosis, or that my stuff is falling or that I have had several bad pap smears.
I know there are women on this site that are or have gone through this. What questions should I ask in order to see if my cervix is something I should keep? How is sex without a cervix? I know there is a lot of information but I want to hear it from someone who has actually been through it. Thank you in advance and thank you Hystersisters for this website. It has a lot of information and helps my anxiety and helps with me not feeling so alone.

Re: Adding to the surgery

Hi ShaniME -

I lost my cervix, along with everything else (no choice for me). But, I did not have all the repairs you are having.

Sex after surgery is different for everyone - some say it is better, some say it is worse, and everywhere in between. For me, sex feels different. My orgasms are not as intense - I miss the muscle contraction of my uterus. But, they are more frequent - go figure.
